   Cockroaches are notorious for being hard to get rid of and for being quick to multiply. Many people have an extreme phobia of cockroaches. These are dirty bugs that can often be hard to stop. There are many things that a person can do, though, to get rid of cockroaches in there home.

 The only way to really get cockroaches out of your home is to follow a comprehensive plan. You need to first get rid of their life supply, their food, hiding places and water sources.  

Taking away their food source involves:

  • cleaning up food spills right away
  • keeping food products in sealed containers or in the refrigerator
  • keeping cabinet clean
  • taking recyclables outside
  • keeping garbage outside
  • washing and cleaning the stove, countertops, tables and sinks daily

Taking away roach hiding places involves:

  • keeping drawers clean and uncluttered
  • not using shelf paper or other lining in cabinets
  • storing unused clothing in tightly sealed containers
  • storing unused furniture outside
  • repairing cracks or other openings around pipes
  • repairing peeling wallpaper

To take away their water sources:

  • fix leaks in pipes
  • keep drains clean
  • keep the area around the sink dry

   Once you have done these things you can move on to methods to ensure they get out and stay out. You can use the traditional method of sprinkling boric acid around areas you have seen them.

   Getting rid of cockroaches requires dedication. You must be sure to address all aspects of the issue. It can be difficult to get rid of roaches, but it is definitely possible with persistence.
